10 Years of Care Celebrated with an Unforgettable Night | My Guardian Annual Dinner 2025
Wow, what a night! Last Friday, September 26th, 2025, we got to hit the pause button and celebrated something truly massive: My Guardian’s 10th Anniversary and Annual Dinner 2025.
The Four Seasons Grand Ballroom in Sydney was buzzing as 400+ incredible people gathered to mark this huge milestone. Think of a powerhouse room filled with community leaders, dedicated healthcare professionals, amazing aged care workers, disability advocates, key government representatives, and our crucial industry partners, all united by a shared passion for better care.
Reflecting on a Decade of Impact
It was a chance to look back at ten years of truly transformative care. From humble beginnings to where we are now, the evening was a powerful reminder of every life we’ve touched and every barrier we’ve helped break down. But we didn’t just dwell on the past; we also cast an eye forward to an even brighter future for aged and disability services, not just here in New South Wales, but across the entire country.
Music, Glamour, and Our Fabulous Host
The energy in the room was electric, thanks to an evening of world-class entertainment! We were thrilled to feature the dynamic sounds of the Dusk till Dawn band, the stunning electric violin performance by String Diva, inspirational vocals from Australian singer and The Voice performer, Lara Nakhle, and a truly captivating performance by the internationally acclaimed opera singer, Alfio.
Guiding us effortlessly through the emotional night was our incredible host, Jayne Azzopardi, newsreader on Channel Nine’s Today Show. As a respected journalist, Jayne brought immense warmth, professionalism, and genuine spirit to the stage, ensuring the entire evening flowed with grace.
An Honour to Host the Premier of NSW
We were honestly deeply honoured to have a special guest join us for the celebrations: The Hon. Chris Minns MP, Premier of New South Wales. His presence was a fantastic testament to the importance of community care in our state, and it really made the evening feel even more significant.
The night wasn’t just about us, though. We took the opportunity to shine a spotlight on two extraordinary individuals whose dedication and contributions have fundamentally shaped the landscape of healthcare and community care for the better.
Celebrating Our Award Winners
The anniversary dinner was a powerful moment to honour two truly extraordinary individuals whose commitment has changed lives and shaped the future of care.
Lifetime Achievement Award: Professor Les Bokey
We proudly recognised Professor Les Bokey AM for his pioneering work in establishing surgical robotics and healthcare automation within the public system. His core focus has been ensuring these advanced technologies remain accessible to diverse and disadvantaged communities. His research has led to significantly improved survival rates for countless cancer patients, a powerful legacy for generations to come.
Community Champion Award: Gwenda Darling
The Community Champion Award went to the inspirational Gwenda Darling. Her decades of tireless advocacy and dedication have been instrumental in shaping healthcare practices and inspiring innovation. Gwenda’s commitment to championing the needs of vulnerable populations has created a lasting legacy and built a more inclusive community.
A Decade of Impact: Reflections from Founder and CEO Jad Haber
In his keynote address, Founder and CEO Jad Haber paused to reflect on the immense journey of growth and meaningful impact over the last 10 years. The numbers he shared with the audience were truly powerful:
“We are proud to have provided 10,000 Australian families with 12 million hours of personal and quality care over the past decade.”
But as he stressed, these are far more than just statistics.
These numbers represent 10,000 families who have been empowered to maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life in their own homes. And they represent 12 million hours of compassionate care delivered by our incredibly dedicated team members, who understand that every single interaction matters.
Adding to this emotional highlight, Jad also shared the beautiful journey of the My Guardian Foundation, named as “Bridges of Hope.” It is focused on how the foundation is actively building support structures and connecting vital resources to create a network of lasting positive change across the community, both locally in Australia and across the globe.

The Vision Ahead: Expanding Our Impact Across Australia
While we celebrated the past, the night also served as a launchpad for our ambitious vision for the next decade. Our goal is clear: to expand our reach across the entire country, supporting more Australians who need and deserve quality, compassionate healthcare.
New Frontiers: Landmark Research Partnerships
To power this expansion and deepen our commitment to innovation, we were thrilled to announce new key partnerships:
We’ve teamed up with the prestigious Ingham Institute and the Heart Research Institute. This collaboration will allow us to drive essential research, translating the latest medical findings directly into better, more effective care practices for our participants.
We also heard inspiring words from Vitex, one of our event sponsors, whose presentation underscored their commitment to supporting community initiatives that truly make a difference.
From a Single Act of Kindness to National Leadership
My Guardian began 10 years ago with a single act of kindness, driven by Founder and CEO, Jad Haber and Co-Founder, Diala Azzi. Their passion to reform aged and disability care through compassionate in-home support has grown into something truly remarkable. What started as a vision for accessible, person-centred care has evolved into a leading provider that continues to set new standards in the industry.
Thank You to Our Community
The evening was flawlessly hosted by Jayne Azzopardi, who perfectly captured the spirit of the occasion.
But most importantly, this celebration was dedicated to everyone who has supported our mission: our dedicated staff, our participants and their families, our trusted partners, and our broader community.
As we look ahead, we do so with immense gratitude for the journey so far and boundless excitement for what lies ahead. Together, we are not just providing care; we’re transforming lives, building stronger communities, and creating a future where every Australian has access to the compassionate, quality support they deserve.
