Australia Breaks Guinness World Records title in a Powerful Tribute to Its Oldest Living Legends
Sydney — 23 October 2025, 1:00pm: Today at NSW Parliament House, aged and disability care provider My Guardian has shattered a Guinness World Records title for the largest gathering of centenarians, uniting 150 of the nation’s oldest living citizens in an unforgettable celebration of life, legacy, and resilience.
What unfolded was more than a record title. It was a moment of collective gratitude — a symbolic salute to a generation that endured war and hardship, built modern Australia from the ground up, and continues to inspire the nation with strength and grace.
Among them were war veterans, Holocaust survivors, pioneering migrants, educators, entrepreneurs, mothers, fathers, and everyday heroes — each representing a century of courage and the unyielding spirit that defines Australia.
“We are immensely proud of our centenarians and are delighted to honour them on the world stage,” said Jad Haber, CEO and Founder of My Guardian. “They’ve lived through the most extraordinary century in human history — witnessing everything from the Great Depression to the digital revolution. Today is more than a record; it’s a call to action for all Australians to recognise and celebrate our elders as the living pillars of our nation.”
This record-breaking milestone comes at a defining moment — just days before the new rights-based Aged Care Act takes effect on 1 November 2025, ushering in a new era of dignity, accountability, and empowerment for older Australians.
“Today’s gathering is a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and wisdom of our oldest Australians, many of whom have shaped the very fabric of our communities. NSW Parliament is proud to host such a historic occasion to honour those who have given so much across generations. I commend everyone involved in creating this extraordinary moment of recognition and unity, and for championing the dignity and rights of older people across NSW,” said The Hon Jodie Harrison, Minister for Seniors.
The Centenarians’ Lunch, held in collaboration with the NSW Government and coinciding with Grandparents Week, brought together Federal, State, and Community leaders to honour more than 10,000 combined years of lived experience — all under one roof, in one powerful act of unity.
“This isn’t just about numbers,” said Diala Azzi Haber, Co-Founder of My Guardian. “It’s about people — about stories, unique to each and every one of the centenarians we are celebrating today. Each face in the room carries a century of memories. Today we gave them a platform, not just to be celebrated, but to be heard.”
A Celebration of Courage and Reform
The timing could not be more profound. As Australia prepares for the Aged Care Act 2024, this milestone embodies the Act’s very essence — respect, rights, and reform. The Act’s focus on dignity, quality, and accountability aligns perfectly with the values behind this historic moment.
By partnering with Guinness World Records, My Guardian has transformed a national celebration into a global message: that compassion, care, and community are not just words they are the legacy we owe to those who came before us.
“What we’ve achieved here today isn’t just history — it’s humanity,” said Haber. “This is proof that when a country comes together with heart and purpose, we can move mountains — or in this case, break a Guinness World Records title .”
