My Guardian Annual Gala Dinner 2026

Event Overview

On 18 September 2026, more than 400 guests joined My Guardian at Crown Sydney for the Annual Gala Dinner 2026, themed Pioneering Healthcare Unity.

The evening brought together leaders from government, healthcare, medical research and community around one shared belief. The biggest challenges in healthcare can’t be solved by one person, one organisation or one sector alone.

Founder and CEO Jad Haber spoke about the idea that has shaped My Guardian from the beginning: when people with different strengths come together, one plus one equals three. “The greatest difference we can make is the difference we make together,” he said.

Honouring Remarkable Australians

Ita Buttrose AC OBE received the Lifetime Achievement Award for a trailblazing career championing health, dignity and care, from Australia’s HIV/AIDS education response to decades of dementia advocacy. Anne Burgess AM received the Community Champion Award for more than 40 years championing the rights and voices of older Australians.”

Panel Discussion: Pioneering Healthcare Unity

Moderated by Dr Aniss Chami (Vitex Pharmaceuticals), My Guardian’s partners discussed how Australians can live healthier, stay independent and live well at home for longer.

  • Prof Philip O’Connell (Westmead Institute for Medical Research): What medical research is revealing about ageing.
  • Prof Reema Harrison (Ingham Institute): How research and technology can open up greater independence for people living with disability.
  • Prof Mary M Kavurma (Heart Research Institute): How blood vessels change during menopause, and what that means for healthy ageing.
  • Dr Kathy Chapman (Macular Disease Foundation Australia): Helping Australians keep their sight as they age.
  • Simon Chan AM (Multicultural NSW): Making sure language and culture are never a barrier to good care.

A Signature Wall of Hope

Guests were asked one simple question as they arrived: “What is your hope for the future?” By the end of the night, the wall was filled with messages from guests, dignitaries and partners.

With gratitude

As Jad reminded the room, there’s you, there’s me, and there’s us, and together, one plus one really does equal three.

Thank you to Premier Chris Minns, our ministers, dignitaries, panellists, partners and award recipients, our Board, the My Guardian team and every guest who joined us. Together, we are building a future of care that none of us could build alone.
