A World Record and a Song: Celebrating 100 Years of Life with Trinity Grammar

At My Guardian, we believe that home care is about more than just clinical support, it’s about fostering joy, independence, and a sense of belonging. In October 2025, we saw those values come to life in the most spectacular way possible.

We hosted the Centenarians’ Lunch at Parliament House, an event that officially secured a Guinness World Record by bringing together 150 of Australia’s oldest living citizens. While the record was a thrill, the true magic of the day came from the voices of the Trinity Grammar Junior School Choir.

Doing Australia Proud

The lunch was a celebration of resilience, featuring guests who have lived through a century of history: war veterans, pioneering migrants, and everyday heroes. To honour them, we invited the Trinity boys to perform, and the result was a beautiful connection between generations.

Under the direction of Ms. Sue Goodman, the choir chose classics that resonated deeply with our guests. From a stirring rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow to an upbeat Do Re Mi from The Sound of Music, the room was filled with smiles and spontaneous sing-alongs.

A Magical Encore

One of the most touching moments of the day wasn’t even on the official program. As Mimo K (Year 6) performed a violin solo, two of our centenarian guests were so moved by the music that they began to dance.

“It’s about people, about stories, unique to each and every one of the centenarians we are celebrating,” says Diala Azzi, Co-Founder of My Guardian. “Each face in the room carries a century of memories. We wanted to give them a platform not just to be celebrated, but to be heard.”

Respect in Action

The connection didn’t stop at the stage. The students formed an impromptu honour guard at the red carpet entrance, applauding our guests as they arrived with their families and My Guardian carers. It was a simple but powerful gesture that made the centenarians feel truly celebrated.

After the performance, the boys spent time sitting with the centenarians, trading stories and learning first-hand about the history these seniors have lived through. These moments reflected the spirit of mutual respect and genuine connection that defines meaningful care.

Investing in the Future

To thank the choir for their incredible contribution to our world-record day, representatives from My Guardian recently visited a Trinity Junior School Assembly to present the boys with a commemorative plaque.

We are also thrilled to announce a financial contribution to the Junior School Music program. This donation will fund a specially commissioned piece for the choir by renowned Australian composer Paul Jarman, celebrating the connection to Wangal Country.

A Day to Remember

At My Guardian, we are proud to support the arts and foster these vital intergenerational bonds. The Centenarians’ Lunch was about much more than setting a world record. It was about honouring lives well lived, creating joyful memories, and bringing generations together in a way that felt both meaningful and unforgettable.

To the boys of the Trinity Junior School Choir, thank you for making our world-record day one we will never forget.
