Home Care Packages now go by a different name and have a different structure.
A Home Care Package (HCP) was the government-funded program that helped older Australians receive care and support while continuing to live independently at home. Support at Home is the new program that’s replacing the Home Care Package system.
Both of these aged care programs were designed to help you stay safe, independent and living in your own home for as long as possible. Your package will transition to the new Support at Home program. The only difference is how the funding works and how services are delivered.
Each package provided different funding amounts, allowing recipients to access a variety of services based on their individual requirements.
The government has arranged to transition eligible participants to Support at Home with equivalent funding. You won’t suddenly lose your services.
If, however, you’re applying for aged care for the first time, you’ll enter the Support at Home program instead of the old Home Care Package system.
Take the first step toward personalised, affordable home care by booking a free, no-obligation consultation with one of our friendly specialists. We’ll guide you through the process, answer any questions, and help you understand how My Guardian can tailor a care plan to meet your needs.
Whether it’s daily assistance, medical care, or companionship, you decide the services you need, and the number of hours. With our flexible care options, your plan can evolve as your needs change, giving you peace of mind and the control to live life on your terms.
Once your care plan and carer are selected, we’ll begin providing the personalised support you need. Whether it’s daily assistance, medical care, or companionship, your carer will ensure you receive the highest quality care in the comfort of your own home.
Packages were allocated fairly through the national priority system, based on date of approval and priority for care. You are placed in the system from the date stated on your approval letter.
The level of support was determined through a physical assessment from My Aged Care. Based on this assessment, you were assigned one of four levels of care, ranging from basic support to high-level care, ensuring you receive the appropriate level of assistance for your needs.
Our services are accessed on a national scale. We service across New South Wales (including Sydney Metropolitan and rural areas), Victoria, Queensland, and South Australia. No matter where you are, My Guardian is here to support you.
