Secrets to Living Well Part 2 Secret 15 - My Guardian

SECRET #15

Small daily movement beats occasional big effort

Many people overestimate occasional exercise and underestimate daily movement.

Because the real secret is, small movement every day is more powerful than occasional intense effort.

The body responds best to consistency.

Muscle strengthening, when done consistently, helps prevent age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia) and frailty, which accelerates around 60–65 years of age.

The fix

Short daily movement improves circulation, your joint flexibility, muscle function and your energy levels.

Small, achievable, and consistent daily acts are psychologically easier to turn into a lifelong lifestyle habit than intense, demanding exercises.

Try…10-minute walks, standing breaks each hour (don’t be sitting too long) and stretching during TV commercial breaks,

Movement works best when built into routine life.

Consistency matters more than intensity.

That is what keeps mobility sustainable.
